Travel Information

Venue

The conference will be held on the Südcampus (Technical Faculty) of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität in Erlangen. The lecture halls are all close to the “Red Square” (street address Cauerstrasse 11, 91058 Erlangen). There are several buses available (see below) from the centre of Erlangen, or a nice walk along the Röthelheimpark. Lunches will be served in the Südmensa. The welcome reception on April 9 will be in the Foyer of Cauerstrasse 4. The Institute of Fluid Mechanics (LSTM) is located in that building, and the laboratory is in the Technical Hall. Finally, for the conference banquette on April 11 we will be visiting Nuremberg.

How to get here:

By Car

Take the A3 to the Tennenlohe exit, then continue on the B4 federal road towards Erlangen until you see the sign for “Universität-Südgelände”. At the next roundabout, turn left. After about 400 meters, turn left into Cauerstraße. The LSTM is located approximately 300 meters ahead, in a building on the left side of the street.

By Train

From Erlangen Central Station (which has excellent train connections from Nuremberg Central Station to Erlangen. Intercity trains coming from Berlin, Magdeburg, Halle, and Munich stop directly at Erlangen Central Station):

  • Continue by taxi (about 15 minutes)
  • Alternatively, take bus line 295 or 30 towards Tennenlohe or Nuremberg, getting off at the Erlangen-Süd stop (about 12 minutes). Cross over the pedestrian bridge, then turn right into Immerwahrstraße. After about 200 meters, turn left into Cauerstraße. The LSTM is located about 50 meters ahead, in a building on the right side of the street (approximately 5 minutes on foot).
  • Or take bus line 287 towards Sebaldussiedlung and get off at Stettiner Straße stop (about 15 minutes). From the bus stop, go straight into Immerwahrstraße, and after approximately 200 meters, turn left into Cauerstraße. The LSTM is situated about 50 meters ahead, in a building on the right side of the street (approximately 5 minutes on foot).

By Plane

Nuremberg Airport:

  • From there, continue by taxi (about 15 minutes).
  • Alternatively, take bus line 30 and get off at the Erlangen Süd stop. Cross over the pedestrian bridge, then turn right into Immerwahrstraße. After about 200 meters, turn left into Cauerstraße. The LSTM is located about 50 meters ahead, in a building on the right side of the street (approximately 5 minutes on foot).
